Story Remix Idea: The Rats In The Walls
While pondering on the idea of remixing one of my favorite novels, I came to the conclusion that a book from the early 1900’s would be an interesting option. My favorite genre of books is horror, therefore I chose The Rats In the Walls by Howard Phillips Lovecraft which was published in 1924. I wasn’t a huge fan of the bland and informal (humorous) tones of the SparkNotes and Thugnotes videos, so I decided that I would approach this remix of the novel through a darkened, eery lens. Growing up my house was haunted (believe it or not), so I resonated with the protagonist as he experiences fearful, unexplainable occurrences within his home. Furthermore, I dream vividly and so does the main character within The Rats In The Walls.
On the other hand the extremities as the tale progresses far exceeds any horror that I have experienced within my own personal life. This is a gripping novel has twists and turns, hidden mysteries, and peculiar occurrences which leave the audiences mouth agape. This book opened my eyes to the tone of cosmic pessimism which,” Regards mankind as insignificant and powerless in the Universe.” Do I believe this to be true? Not entirely, but it sure does make for a riveting, mind boggling novel!
My depiction of this novel will be a video with various images scrolling across the screen as my voice recalls events from The Rats in The Walls.
